Point-of-reference for review:
Ride log: Reviewing after having logged about 500 miles in the second half of 2012.
About me: I bought this bike to get back into riding after a hiatus of about 12 years. I guess there is an obviously enormous improvement in bikes across 20 years of technological advancements.
Technical: The Shimano 105 gears are smooth (see ProBuild below), but not as smooth as Shimano 105 from 20 years ago (when 105 series was the best Shimano offered). The OvalConcepts brakes could feel more solid, but they get the job done. Tires, wheels, and carbon frame provide smooth and comfortable ride. The seat could be a little more comfortable; not sure if it's a matter of getting used to it, or if it's just not suited for me. More miles will tell.
The crank is more resilient than any amount of power that I can give it.
Cons: 1. Side winds require a more sturdy grip on the handle-bars though; I'm not sure if that is due to the aerobars. 2. Due to abnormal geometry of frame and components, adding peripherals is not an easy a task as it would on more "normally shaped" bikes (e.g, water bottle cage, computer, etc.)
Pros: 1. The faster you ride, the better this bike behaves. 2. Aesthetics! This bike even gave me the guts to enter a Duathlon race, and because it has a sexy paint job, I had to ride extra hard to live up to the bike's looks.
ProBuild: Out of the box, the proBuild wasn't so great; I had to get the gears substantially adjusted (I'm not a good mechanic for gears), but after that and some minor fitment adjustments, and the bike was fun, fun, fun.
Conclusion: This is a super smooth ride. I look forward to many more years of fun, fast riding.
Customer Service: I am very satisfied with the service I received from roadbikeoutlet.com in terms of on-line and on-phone discussions and prompt delivery.
