These are great bars. They are a breeze to install and adjust. The whole process took less than a half hour.
The pads are held in place by Velcro (some manufacturers us a foam sticker). The bars are very adjustable - both for and aft as well as radially. If one is over 6' tall, they might be short for you - but so would many other bars.
We tried anther pair of Tec9 bars that were also great quality, they were a different shape. These suited my wife better. I have a set of bars from another manufacturer that was more expensive and not as adjustable.
I needed a pair of aerobars mainly to give me another position on my FX 7.3 bike. I use this bike for long rides on the KATY trail - a rails to trails bike path across Missouri.
The Trek is an inexpensive flat bar road bike that I don't mind taking on a packed chat trail. I had already installed a set of bar ends but still felt like I needed another position to relieve the pressure on my wrists and shoulders. However, the handle bar doesn't provide a lot of room. I needed to find a aerobars that would allow me to play around with positioning so I chose the 'disconnected' style for this purpose.
The bar mounts are sturdy and are secured by hex cap screws. The kit comes with spacers that worked great for my smaller diameter handlebar. I mounted them as far out on the bar as I could, right next to the ring that holds the shifter to the bar. I had to rotate the shifters downward about 5-10 degrees to allow proper positioning but this doesn't compromise their function at all. I extended the bars out to the limiter mark. The pads are thick and comfortable and are attached by velcro.
All in all - very satisfied and would buy again.
These were bought for my wifes touring bike. she loves it. i mounted a iphone mount to them also. simple and they work .
